Want to learn how to identify birds by sound and sight? Then join us for a Brilliant Bird walk! We’ll be exploring some areas that are great for birds and using our binoculars and parabolic microphones to learn the difference between species.
Event begins at 11am and last for two-three hours.
We have a number of locations, check we are running one in your area before booking.
Suitable for children, families and those with physical and hidden disabilities.
We begin by introducing ourselves and what we will be doing throughout the brilliant bird walk. Firstly, we’ll show you how the parabolic microphones work and how best to use your binoculars. We’ll also have some identification sheets to help you with identifying the species but also to keep a record of what we’re seeing.
Depending on the location, we may either explore in a circle or venture to a good location where we can sit and observe the birds. We’re sure you know some of your garden birds – so we’re going to explore some common species that aren’t found in your gardens!
Likely species may include Reed Warbler, Chiffchaff, Buzzard, Red Kite, Chough, Mallard, Oystercatcher, Dunlin – There’s so much bird life around and we want you to come and learn it with us!
