Butterflies & Brownies
Join us for an afternoon of butterfly hunting! We will be learning how to identify butterflies, looking and recording what species we find and enjoying a delicious homemade brownie by a local baker.
Event begins at 11am and ends around 1:30pm.
We have a number of locations that we use throughout South Wales for our Butterflies & Brownies days – check the box on the right for the location and date of the tours.
Suitable for children, families and those with physical and hidden disabilities.
Overview:
A gentle walk around some fantastic areas for butterflies, we will have some identification guides on some easy to spot butterflies. With your guide, we will be looking at what species we can see such as common species like; Small Tortoiseshell, Comma, Speckled Wood, Red Admiral, Peacock to the more site specific butterflies like Pearl-bordered Fritillary, Dark Green Fritillary and Small Blue.
As we walk around our sites, we will have wildlife recording sheets where we aim to record as much data as possible of the species we are seeing and record the abundance of each species. We want to see people enjoying butterflies and learning of their identification whilst having fun!
We’ll stop during our walk to enjoy a delicious homemade brownie from a local baker (please ensure you fill our dietary requirements and allergies for all participants on the booking form).
