North Wales Migration

Enjoy the birding around some of the best sites in North Wales focusing on migrant birds.

Binoculars are strongly encouraged, as well as a scope if possible. Cameras are greatly encouraged!

The week includes breakfast and evening meals, lunch is not provided but we will make stops.
Drinks are excluded.
There may be some long days and some early starts.
Suitable for children, and can be adapted for those with disabilities.

Overview:

Day One: Hotel arrival around 2-3pm before exploring the grounds and nearby areas looking for local migrants.

Day Two: On our first long day out birding, we visit RSPB Conwy looking for breeding migrants such as Sedge Warblers, Reed Warblers as well as common migrants like Blackcap, Willow Warbler and Chiffchaffs. After we enjoy Conwy, we will travel up to the Great Orme looking for Chough, as well as Wheatear among other things.

Day Three: Traveling further south, today we visit Ynys Hir RSPB. This site is fantastic for Pied Flycatcher, Spotted Flycatcher, Common Redstart and Wood Warblers. We will also look for common breeders such as Red Kite, Cuckoo. After enjoying our singing migrants, we travel up to Dyfi Osprey Project for lunch and to visit the Osprey platforms.

Day Four: Enjoying the longest day of our tour – we pop across to Bardsey Island to observe the seabirds. This island is not only rich in history, but we will look for seabirds such as Sandwich Terns, Common Terns, Manx Shearwater, Razorbills and island migrants such as Chough, Wheatear, Whitethroat, Sedge Warbler and Cuckoo. There is also chance of seeing Risso’s Dolphin, Harbour Dolphins and plenty of butterflies!

Day Five: A visit to Anglesey is a must for any North Wales trip and we pop up to Cemlyn Bay, South Stack RSPB and Cors Ddyga RSPB. At these sites we hope to see Guillemots, Razorbills, Fulmar, Puffins as well as Chough, Barn Owls, Great Egrets and terns at Cemlyn.

Day Six: On our final day, we will visit a local reserve to the hotel before saying our goodbyes to the guests.
